It isn't new but I decided to read the entire Harry Potter series, which isn't really new news because I'm on the fifth book already. However, one new thing is: this is the first one I can't seem to put down and I've actually starting to become addicted.

The better news would be me landing two separate freelance jobs. I don't have many details yet, except one includes Edgar Allen Poe...so that should be pretty exciting. More to come.

I just got back from Florida visiting my girlfriend and Ringling. It was really nice and it offered a lot of time with my sketchbook. Here's some doodles from the trip:

Here's the truck for my thesis. It's still a little in progress (i.e. the bird feed texture and the bucket/sign textures) But this is the general look in 3D. I'm really excited about it. Now I can't wait to stick it in an environment.

This was for the Digital Painting Sketch Club at Ringling with this week featuring Gabby Zapata, if you haven't seen her blog, check it out! It's awesome stuff. She chose the topic and sketched for all the underclassmen. It was a great time. Hoping to do it again in the future.

I don't have anything visually to show...but I have updated my "Places to go" and "People to See:" sections.

There's a lot of cool people to see, including some animators at Sony where I'm interning this summer! It's an awesome environment and there's a lot of really talented people.

I'll be back to school in a week from now, so that's when I'll update the blog with everything new from out here...hopefully I'll have some animation as well. Until then...

Portfolio Time

I'm getting all of my work together for Internships this summer and it's incredible looking at the amount of stuff I have and how much I've progressed with just the few years I've been at Ringling. These are some 3D renders of a self-caricature model we're working on, which'll eventually end up in a Lipsync Animation. I was excited about the final product.

I'm continuing with the chicken-chase. So I did some chicken designs...
I'm liking some more than others. Some turned into pigeon-like birds. And there's a three-eyed one in there to play around with the idea of mutating and extra appendages.

I'm back at school, I'm starting my first idea for Thesis and there's a lot of work. Nothing new, but it's a lot of fun and here's a little taste of my idea...his name is Burt, he's a bird feed farmer who purposefully dumps toxic waste into his feed, which increases it's flavor, quality and popularity...it also increases chicken size...Enjoy!

I recently purchased Jake Parker's Inkotober book and with it came an original 3x5 piece, signed and everything. Well naturally, the opportunist I am, I asked my sister (who works at a local Framer's Gallery) to make it a present of mine for the Holidays to put this awesome drawing in a frame.One of the best gifts I've gotten...can't wait to put it up on my wall when I get back from break. Engraved Moleskine

I've been wanting to do this since High School. Unfortunately, at the time, the engraving was done directly onto the moleskine's oilcloth cover producing some sort of cancerous toxin which, of course, is bad. So the ability to engrave went away for a while and finally returned about a year ago, this time engraving onto a nice ageless leather cover that slips over the moleskines, and I had been searching for a reason to spend the money ever since. So then came the Holidays and the gift to my girlfriend:I was so pleased with the result. She's into animals and cool sorts of natural things (hence the design). I spent a good deal on the image and the design and sent the company the image to engrave on the leather with fantastic speed and precision. And she was happy with it as well, which is always a good thing. Here's the company's link, if anyone else was interested, I'd say it's well worth the money:

So this doesn't pertain to work...I'm getting to that part...but as I'm working on that and beginning to load a giant post of this semester's work, here's a photo I took this weekend while my girlfriend's dog and mine played in the twenty inches of snow. They had a blast.

I love panoramas. Digital paintings and animation to come soon. Very soon.

Drawing for Animators

Here's some drawings I completed for the silhouette assignment in my Drawing for Animators class...we started of with almost Rorschach-like blobs, taking those and seeing what kind of interesting shapes and characters we can come up with...I'm taking the pirate into Animation for my upcoming Push/Pull assignment...almost completed the model, which I will post once completed.
